Fundraising Events

Here are some of the things we’ve been up to:

Hammer City Roller Girls

In 2011, we were once again invited to help out the Hammer City Roller Girls as they hosted several matches with teams from Canada and the U.S. We volunteered at the door selling tickets and handing out brochures. And to say thanks, the Hammer City Roller Girls generously donated one dollar to our Club for every ticket sold. The season ran from May to mid August and we helped out at 4 of their games. They are great girls (tattoos, piercings, multi-coloured hair and all). They also help the community by doing food drives and marshalling at the Take Back the Night Event and donating to Inasmuch House (an abuse shelter) and HIFY (Health Initiatives For Youth).

Third Annual Charity Golf Tournament

On Saturday June 11, 2011, we held our third successful Annual Charity Golf Tournament in support of Victims of Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence. Even though the weather didn’t co-operate this year – everyone enjoyed golfing, food and prizes and are planning to join us again next year on Saturday June 9, 2012.

Here are some pictures of the day – golfers on the green and two of our members (Teresa & Carolyn) selling prize tickets for the closest to the pin and closest to the beer box

Special Donation by TD/Canada Trust

In July 2009, TD/Canada Trust donated $1,500 to SI Stoney Creek-Niagara as a one-time donation from the 2009 TD Charitable Budget. These funds will go a long way to assist our club in our fundraising efforts. Each year requests may be submitted for review and consideration. Pictured here are Director Billie Yakiwchuk receiving the cheque from bank employee Lisa Henriques.

Autumn Harvest Tea & Fashion Show

Our 6th Annual Harvest Tea and Fashion show was a great success. The afternoon event allows student volunteers to help set up and serve our high tea prior to the fashion show. Students are required to complete 40 hours of community volunteering to obtain a Secondary School Diploma. Fashions were provided by a local boutique who can dress women in sizes from 0 to 22 and ages 15 to 90! The food is prepared by our members. Door prizes are donated by local businesses, individuals or members. Other fundraising activities take place, as well as education to the guests
