IN MEMORY

Sadly, in October 2008 Shirley Begin, 69, a charter member passed away. As a charter member, Shirley was the one who set up the books and assisted our first club treasurer. Shirley supported many, or all, of our club functions in the early years. She was very proud to be a Soroptimist and enjoyed attending Conference and Fall Region Meetings. She truly believed in the service of this organization and the ideals that we support. She was a smiling and friendly face at meetings and enjoyed meeting Soroptimists from other clubs. We will miss you, Shirley. You were a caring mother, a good Soroptimist and a dear friend and we thank you for everything you did.

Memorial Tree Planting

Each year, we have a memorial tree-planting ceremony in remembrance of a member, or a relative of each of our members, who have passed away that year. Our latest memorial tree-planting was this fall 2011, when we planted trees in memory of Brenda Vanderlinden's and Joan Sturch’s mothers as well as Margaret Epp's brother.
